All this for $14.84 (this includes tax and shipping) and it tasted great! I compared this price to the cost of the same produce at Lee's market place and found that even with their sale items it saved me some money, time and was very fresh! (And I didn't have the temptation to buy things that are not on my list!) ;)
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_XbBstST5vOY/S9cR396UOcI/AAAAAAAAAoU/YN_llj3ebfs/s400/008.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464856326047021506" />
Strawberries, Romaine lettuce, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, green onions, potatoes, radishes, celery, carrots, avocados, cabbage, broccoli, lemons, bananas, and oranges.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_XbBstST5vOY/S9cSF4M_56I/AAAAAAAAAoc/WaTlgh0KSRU/s400/009.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5464856565032937378" />
Here is a view of the "family" box. You order each Monday and by Friday you pick up your fresh produce, take it home, and enjoy!
They deliver these baskets at wholesale prices. Typically you’ll SAVE 25-40% or more then if you bought these items individually in a market.
Actual items in the baskets will vary from week to week, depending on seasonal availability. Baskets come in two sizes, Lite ($12.95)and Family ($17.92) plus sales tax. Order the size and quantity you need to meet your situation. No restrictions!

Well, I am going to order this week and see how it goes. I will post more details this weekend.

If enough people show an interest in North Logan, they will start a pick up point here so we don't have to travel anywhere else.
(The deliveries are coming to Logan and Perry right now, but will eventually spread to all of Cache Valley. They could also deliver to the Wasatch front if there is enough interest).

If anyone is interested in more info the web site is
http://click-2-pick.com

Amber Jackson

ALSO, I HAVE FREE POTATOES AT MY HOUSE, PLEASE COME AND GET SOME! :)

Holiday Dinner

I wanted to thank everyone for their help at the last activity (I know, it's been over a month...) We got 5 blankets made, 30 file folders done, and over 30 school kits sewn and put together.

Our next activity is going to be November 18th at 6:30. It will be our Holiday dinner. So mark your calendars and we will see you there!

Thanks

ENRICHMENT SERVICE ACTIVITY

Wednesday Sept. 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the cultural hall.

We will be putting together school kits and coloring file folder games. I have barely touched a paintbrush in the past 3 years (I studied art in college) and want to get some painting time in before I have our baby in June--won't have much time then! I just want people to come and pose for me to take a picture to do a small portrait painting. It doesn't matter what you wear ( as long as it is something! I am not doing figure painting) It doesn't matter your age. If it turns out, you can keep it.
There are some stipulations though:

1- I can't promise it will look good!

2-I can't promise it will look like you--like I said, I am out of practice.

3- I get final say on the pose (don't worry, nothing weird. It just depends on if I am in the mood to do a silly, smiling, thoughtful, sentimental or dramatic lighting type of thing) but I am welcome to input if you have a preference for the mood of the painting.

Here are a couple I have done lately:

Don't be shy-- I would be most grateful for any volunteers!
Thanks! Couponing by Sister Sorenson, and Insurance by Brother Ivie. After the classes, we put together books (thanks Sister Carter) to keep all of our important documents together and organized. There were refreshments afterwards, thanks to Sisters Christensen, Naylor, Saunders, and Hutchison. We had cookies and brownies and I'd like to wish a happy new year to all the Relief Society sisters. I am excited about the new year, and have made several resolutions of my own, hopefully to keep longer than the first few weeks of the year! Our theme for this year is "Of One Heart and One Mind." We are going to study several different attributes of Christ, so we can learn to become like Him. On doing this, we may have a unified soul which leads to unity within our families, ward, and church. The attributes we are going to study are:
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: Thanks to all who attended!

We also had Luch Bunch this week. Several sisters met at the Coppermill for lunch. It was great food and great company. Julie Balard, Audrey Hutchison, Carol Jones, Bernadene Peterson, Susan Brewer, Della Buttars, Lila Cooley and Megan Tanner attended. We will plan on doing this each month, and it is a lot of fun, so plan on it next month!

Next month we will be having a dutch oven instruction and meal October 22nd at 6:30. The Brewer's will be teaching how to cook with dutch ovens, and a dutch oven meal will be provided. A children's class will also be provided.

Garlic!

It is finally fall, and we are all waiting paitently for our tomatoes to ripen. While we are waiting, it is the time of year to plant garlic in your garden. It is so easy, and the garlic will keep for a long time. All you do is buy the garlic bulbs (I got some at Anderson's for $1 a head), break them apart, and plant each clove of garlic in the dirt, a couple of inches deep. Then, when the snow melts after a long cold winter, you will be able to see your garlic already growing!

It is ready in the middle of the summer when the tops start to fall over or turn yellow. You can then pull them up and store them for months. You can braid them together,

and hang them in the garage or with your food storage. The garlic has a stronger flavor than the store bought variety, so you won't have to use as much in your recipes. There are several vareties out there, but I don't really know the difference between the types. Some are richer in flavor, some are a bit spicy.

You can also plant onions now from seed if you want. You can buy starts in the spring, but you could also do it from seed now. Enjoy the nice weather while we have it! It would be good with just the rhubarb too. The crust is pretty easy too!

Pie Filling:
3 C chopped rhubarb
1 C sugar
1/2 t orange peel
3 T flour
1/8 t salt
2 T butter

Mix all ingredients except butter. Let sit while you make crust. Add the butter cut into cubes on the top of the pie filling before you put the top crust on.

Crust:
2 1/2 C flour
1/2 t salt
1 C shortening
1/4 C water
1 T vinegar (I used apple cider)
1 egg

Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening until it is crumbly. Mix water, vinegar, and egg. Add to flour mixture.

Roll out bottom crust. Pour in filling with butter chunks on top. Add top crust. Sprinkle sugar on top.

Bake 450 for 10 minutes, then 350 for 30 minutes.

Enjoy!

BBQ Chili

1 lb beef
1 C chopped onion
2 cloves garlic
2-4 T chili powder
1 T cumin
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 C ketchup
1/3 C brown sugar
1/4 C molasses
1/4 C Worchstershire sauce
1 T dried mustard
6 C cooked beans (could use white, pinto, or black)
5 strips cooked bacon
water

Brown meat, onion, and garlic.
